New York City Study Tour

Embark on a journey through New York City culture, food and education! Enjoy drinking a Manhattan at a classic New York bar and eating the famous NYC Pizza at a traditional establishment under Brooklyn Bridge. Take in the magnificent views of the city that never sleeps from the top of the Empire State Building, visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the 9/11 Memorial, the American Museum of Natural History and much more! You will learn about the US education system while making new friends with American and Australian teachers.
This tour is designed for a lot of fun and a little work (just enough to hit the tax-deductible requirements*) Travel with fellow educators knowing they are like-minded and ready for an adventure, just like you! New York’s diverse culture and environment play a key role in shaping its education system. We will be immersing ourselves into their culture through food tours, museum and memorial visits and maybe a spot of shopping on Fifth Avenue.

Tours for Teachers promotes partnerships between educators and schools. We provide an inclusive study tour designed for K -12 educators who are looking to implement changes for a better education.
The NYC trip offers participants the opportunity to become familiar with the New York education system and the factors influencing its success. In addition, the program includes visits to New York schools and educational institutions covering grades K-12, providing visitors an overview of the New York education system, New York society and culture, and offers an up-close and personal view of daily life in the New York classroom. You will also create new educational partnerships that enhance teaching and learning, build on teaching practice by learning from each other, and have an opportunity to acquire many new skills, resources and ideas.
Guided New York City Sightseeing Tour
Make the most of your time in the city that never sleeps on a guided tour of NYC’s top attractions. Travel by both the Staten Island Ferry and bus as you swing by the 9/11 Memorial, Central Park, Rockefeller Center and more. Then hop aboard a one-trip Ferry ride for a sightseeing cruise past the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, complete with stunning views of the world-famous skyline and Brooklyn Bridge.
Greenwich Village Food Tour
Greenwich Village has long been one of New York’s best areas for dining and on this whirlwind culinary tour, you’re able to taste all of the neighbourhood’s must-try specialties in a single afternoon. Follow your guide to locals-approved eateries, from traditional pizzerias to destination-worthy cupcake bakeries. As you stroll, you also learn more about the history of the Village.
Dinner at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria
With an open kitchen concept, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria demonstrates the art of pizza making, inviting guests to watch pizza-tossing first-hand. Grimaldi’s is famous for its coal-burning ovens, which are heated to a temperature of up to 1,200 degrees to deliver a unique smoky-flavoured thin crust. The tour begins and ends in New York City
Please note this is a brief itinerary and guide only, a more detailed itinerary will be emailed to you closer to departure. Lots of spontaneous group activities transpire along the way like Broadway Shows, Drinks at a Rooftop Bar or shopping expeditions to the many nearby shops on Fifth Avenue.
Everything is encouraged but nothing is compulsory!
Day 1 – Saturday 12th April
Check-in to Iroquois Hotel from 3 pm*
5 pm Welcome Drinks in Lanterns Keep – meet your new friends and get to know each other
*If you arrive earlier the hotel will happily store your luggage so you can explore the city.
Day 2 – Sunday 13th April

Free day to explore the city. We will have some optional group activities that you can join in with or if there is somethign you want to tick off the bucket list just do it!

Free evening – why not book into a Broadway Show! The theatre district is located just down the road from our hotel.
Day 6 – Thursday 17th April

Free afternoon and evening – there are so many things to do at night in NYC. Enjoy exploring the streets, shopping at Macy’s on 5th Avenue, or dinner in Greenwich Village with your new friends and colleagues.
Day 7 – Friday 18th April

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge back into NYC
Walking nearly 2km across this iconic bridge is one of the best things to do in NYC. It’s fun and the perfect way to enjoy the breathtaking skyline and river views. Make sure you have your camera for this one!

Our tour in NYC concludes this morning.
