Meet Your Host – Jess

Jess has been a teacher for over 15 years, implementing and running the Duke of Edinburgh programme at her former school, Xavier College and leading student expeditions through World Challenge to Nepal, India and Ecuador. She has been an avid traveller since a young age, travelling to over 35 countries, and counting!

If she were to describe herself in 3 words they would be Adventurous, friendly and empathetic. 

She met her partner whilst travelling in Uganda, and lived there for 3 years. She often returns with her family and now runs tours there so other people can experience the magic of the ‘Pearl of Africa’ in a safe, fun and immersive way!

Jinja Nile Resort – 3 nights

Saturday 27th September

Arrive in Entebbe, check in to Kampala accommodation Latitude 0.

Welcome dinner and drinks at 7pm – Get to know your group and get excited for the adventure that awaits!

Sunday 28th September

Kick off the morning with a Kampala walking tour before taking the 3 hr journey to Jinja, the adventure capital, where we will check into our accommodation at Jinja Nile Resort, before heading to our late afternoon boat cruise to the Source of the Nile.

Monday 29th September

We will spend the morning in Jinja town, exploring the bustling food market, walking the streets and checking out fabric stores, craft shops and meeting the lovely locals along the way. We will visit ‘Jinja Connection’ A local organisation who are trying to get kids off the streets and back in school, and hear more about the work they are doing. Spend the afternoon at Horizon International school, starting with a school lunch, visit classrooms in the afternoon and meet with teachers for an hour of focused PD, hearing about their experiences in Education with the opportunity to share our own.

Tuesday 30th September

Take the morning to relax by the pool, or take up the optional extra to white water raft along the River Nile. In the afternoon we will visit Small Steps school, an organisation supporting students with disabilities. Meet a family who will receive a special donation from our group to enable them to support their family and understand how it will benefit them.

Wednesday 1st October

Early morning departure – Travel to Murchison National Park, taking in the sights and smells as we go across the country, stopping for lunch on the way. Visit the top of Murchison Falls and arrive at Pakuba safari lodge.

Thursday 2nd October

Today is a day of Safari tours and a three-hour boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. Embarking on a Murchison Falls safari and boat cruise offers an unforgettable adventure, where visitors can witness majestic wildlife along the savannah plains and experience the thundering power of the Nile River as it surges through the iconic falls.

Friday 3rd October

Saturday 4th October

Travel back to Kampala, stopping on the way at the Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch which is the proud home of the only white rhinos in Uganda. Located in Nakasongola district, not only can you find rhinos, but a wide variety of bird species and other wildlife. Arrive back at Latitude 0 and enjoy our final dinner together with some special guest teachers both Ugandan and International who are currently teaching in Uganda.

Sunday 5th October

Our final breakfast together as the tour concludes. 

Airport Transfers will be arranged closer to departure.
